MCP Abilities – Rank Math: turn an SEO review into checked changes
A list of SEO issues is only the start. Let an authenticated MCP assistant find the pages that need attention, update their Rank Math fields and read back the result. Use the same connection to investigate old URLs and create the redirects you have chosen.
The service changed. Did its description?
Imagine a British bicycle workshop that now offers Saturday repairs. Its service page explains the new hours, but the saved SEO description still says weekday service only. The two records no longer tell the same story.
Ask the assistant to compare the page with its Rank Math fields. Once the workshop has confirmed the new hours and booking details, update the description and inspect the page’s actual metadata. The add-on makes the edit possible; the business facts still need to be right.
The illustration separates the page from its SEO record. Keep them consistent, then check the rendered output. A saved description does not determine the exact text a search engine will display.
Build a maintenance routine around the work you need
Choose a defined set of pages or URLs. The assistant can gather the relevant evidence and carry out selected changes through the add-on’s 32 abilities.
Prepare a useful metadata review queue
Find service pages with empty custom titles or descriptions, inspect their subjects and prepare accurate replacements. Read each saved result back. Empty fields are review signals: Rank Math’s default templates may already produce suitable output. Continue through every result page in the selected scope.
Repair old addresses after a restructure
Read the 404 logs, inspect existing redirect rules and verify the replacement page before creating a redirect. Test the old URL afterwards. This gives the team a way to handle a site move one confirmed route at a time; clearing a log alone does not repair the route.
Check how published pages can be found
Inspect internal inbound links and the URLs listed in the sitemap. Use the findings to decide where a relevant link or further review is needed. The link report scans stored WordPress content and navigation menus; it does not crawl every dynamic link or add links to the copy.
Know which part of SEO this connection handles
The add-on also reads and updates supported publisher details, social profiles, modules, schema records, primary terms and Rank Math options. It can inspect FAQ blocks and preview llms.txt when that feature is available. Administrative settings can affect the whole site, so define the intended change before saving.
Stored SEO scores are Rank Math’s saved values, not fresh ranking measurements. The add-on does not provide keyword research, traffic data or an AI model. Saving metadata or listing a page in a sitemap does not guarantee indexing or rankings. Google may build a search snippet from page content instead of the meta description.
Complete the first job on one page
1. Read the current record
Connect with a WordPress account that can edit the page. Ask the assistant to read its title, description, robots settings and canonical URL, then compare those values with the page and the intended task.
2. Apply the chosen change
Supply accurate replacement copy or a verified redirect destination. Keep unrelated fields intact. For a robots override that is no longer needed, use the explicit clear operation to restore the site’s default behaviour.
3. Check what visitors and crawlers receive
Read the saved values back, inspect the rendered page and test any affected URL. Review schema in its final output. Check each result before extending the same task to more pages.
Requires WordPress 6.9 or later with the Abilities API, PHP 8.0 or later, and active Rank Math SEO. Use a maintained PHP release supported by your site. Enable the Rank Math modules needed for the task and configure an authenticated MCP connection such as MCP Expose Abilities. Content operations require editorial access and relevant post permissions; global settings, logs and redirects require administrative settings access. Deleting schema keys and clearing all 404 logs require explicit confirmation.

Install the add-on and ask your MCP assistant to review one service page. Choose the change, save it and check the result. That is a practical starting point for a repeatable maintenance routine.
