MCP Abilities – Polylang: give every language its matching page
A translated page can exist and still be missing from the language switcher. Let an authenticated MCP assistant inspect the links between language versions, find gaps and prepare the next correction with MCP Abilities – Polylang.
The page may be there. The connection may not.
Imagine a British kitchen-design company with English and French service pages. Both describe the same service, but Polylang does not link them. Creating another French page would add a duplicate without fixing the original connection.
Ask the assistant to find the existing pages and inspect their languages and translation groups. Compare their content before linking them: a similar title or layout does not make a bathroom page the translation of a kitchen page.

Turn language maintenance into specific jobs
Use the add-on to build a review list, connect confirmed translations or prepare a fresh draft. Each workflow starts with the language records already held by Polylang.
Find the gaps before a launch
Scan the selected service pages for missing language versions and give editors a list of the pages to prepare. Continue through every result page in the selected scope. A source changed more recently than its translation is a reason to inspect the copy, not proof that it is out of date.
Reconnect pages that belong together
Find and compare existing language versions, then preview a merge that keeps all their current siblings. The add-on refuses an omitted sibling or a relationship state that has changed since inspection. It cannot decide whether two pages really cover the same subject.
Prepare translations from today’s source
Supply freshly reviewed target-language copy and the exact source snapshot. The add-on can create a missing translated draft or rebuild an existing sibling, copying source metadata through Polylang, including layout fields selected by the theme or plugin. Review the draft before publication.
Connected does not mean translated, reviewed or published
The add-on exposes 19 abilities covering languages, posts, taxonomy terms, translation groups, coverage checks, registered-string lookup and checked writes. It does not generate translations or judge their quality. Rebuilding an existing translation first clears it to a draft; an interrupted operation can leave an empty draft. Check the returned target and saved content before continuing. Language settings, menu changes, URL migrations and publication use their own WordPress tools.
Start with one service page
1. Inspect the source and its languages
Read the configured languages and the source page’s translation group. Search for an existing target before creating one. For a child page, create its translated parent first if needed.
2. Choose the correct operation
For existing matching pages, preview a relationship merge with every current sibling. For new copy, prepare it directly from the current source and preview a draft rebuild. Confirm the proposed operation only after checking the IDs, language and source state.
3. Read back, review and publish
Apply the checked request, inspect the saved relationship or draft, and review the target-language copy, links and layout. Publish through the site’s normal process, then test that the language switcher reaches the matching page.
Requires WordPress 6.9 or later, PHP 8.0 or later, and active Polylang or Polylang Pro. MCP access also needs the WordPress MCP Adapter and MCP Expose Abilities. Reads need editorial access; post details also require access to those posts. Writes require administrative and relevant object permissions. Fresh drafts also need the native content abilities.
